| description | Diccionari per a ociosos (1964) is acknowledged as one of Joan Fuster’s most important books, a touchstone of so-called free and deliberative essay. Even so, although it has already been made clear that the origin of the texts is often found in the author’s diary or in previously published newspaper articles, the sources of this work have not been analysed in depth. In this paper, specifically, we aim to study the rewriting process that gave rise to the entry «Love». Thus, we will verify which previous texts by the author announce the topic and thesis of this entry, in particular the column «El “amor” en baja», published in the «Examen de conciencia» section of El Correo Catalán on 17 March 1963. The study of the thematic and stylistic coincidences, in some cases literal, that we find between these two texts, will also involve the ascertainment of the differences that can be observed. Based on this specific analysis, in short, we will be able to draw a series of conclusions about the process of choosing and reworking the materials that, finally, gave rise to Diccionari per a ociosos. |
