description This article focuses on the artistic career and the teaching method elaborated by the French dancer and choreographer Jean Cébron (1927-2019), and in particular on his work at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome where he taught modern dance and composition from 1973 till 1976, also transmitting and creating some of his coreographies. Trained in painting, music, ballet, modern dance, Labanotation, Javanese and Indian traditional dances under the guidance of his mother, M. Cébron, and of C. Zambelli, M. Craske, A. Corvino, K. Jooss, S. Leeder, T. Shawn, D. Anik, R. Gopal and other masters, Cébron performed, composed and taught in several prestigious schools, dance companies and opera houses. Pina Bausch was one of his artistic partners and talented students.
