This paper reports the results of a motivational orientation survey of primary school 8th grade pupils in the subject of geography. The main aim of this paper is to find out what are the real types of learning motivation in geography lessons. A quantitative kind of survey was chosen.We used a questionnaire to collect an applicable data. The questionnaire of V. Hrabal (1988) investigates types of learning motivation which affect the learning activities of pupils. For geography teacher is knowledge about the true motivation of pupils essential. It helps him/her to answer the question: “Which type of learning motivation is dominating in my classroom?”
