Summary:The relevance of work is determined by the need for a detailed analysis of the crucial role of knowledge in industrial and post-industrial society through the prism of the «axis principle» of social dynamics and construction of public structures. The main aim of the study: to prove the necessity of determining knowledge parameters in industrial and post-industrial environment, to identify their internal consistency based on network principles; to show the relation between the multiplicity of social development vectors and to identify the underlying causes of the crisis in professional education system.Methods: The authors have applied the approach to society as a system of self-knowledge. Concrete historical specificity and forms of self-sustaining systems of knowledge to industrial society on the basis of the dialectic of living and embodied knowledge are shown. Results: The paper shows the way of encoding the process of structure formation by embodied knowledge dominance in the social scale; what «structural» institutions appear in this process and, the way of programming social dynamics in the generated structures. The authors identified the features of rational knowledge in industrialized world and specific nature of a progress linear model based on dominance of the embodied knowledge. The transition to the dominant role of living knowledge as a social substance determines multiple (alternative) character of the generated (constructible) social reality, social role spectrum of its participants. The structure of social and creative knowledge is changing. Social-role knowledge of the subjects of reality generated plays growing role in this knowledge. The authors make conclusions on congruence of social and creative activity based on knowledge, and the system of forming knowledge ofparticipants of this activity
