description Typhoid fever is an acute systemic bacterial infection which is endemic in India, Pakistan and Iran. Our study was retrospective and has been done in infectious disease department of Bouali hospital, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences from 1993 to 1995. In this study 84 patients were chosen according to clinical manifestation compatible with typhoid fever and positive blood or stool culture. 57.1% patients were female and 42.9% male. 34% were between 15 to 19 years old. Seasonal incidence was highest in late Summer and early fall. 90.1 showed SGOT elevation from baseline and 80% SGPT elevation. Enzyme changes has been mentioned in 1/3 of typhoid patients in textbooks but stastics  has been over 2/3 of them..
