Description
Summary:The article explores specific intersections within the gender, politics and media triangle in order to better understand the positioning of media in regards to political representation of women. The broad theoretical umbrella is political representation as conceptualized by Hanna F. Pitkin (1967) and further on by Sarah Childs (2008). It also describes how social media may be used to challenge, deconstruct or emphasize gender stereotypes by grounding the analysis in the 2014 presidential elections.
