Description
Summary:The Science of Love and its Limits - To investigate love as a natural phenomenon entails subjecting this aspect of human life – up till now considered evanescent, impalpable and deeply subjective – to the scrutiny and understanding of contemporary science. The natural sciences continue to modify our intuitive concepts of love suggesting that even in love man is much less free than we like to think. Nevertheless, once we discover the extent to which we are constrained by our biology even where love is concerned, something remains that contemporary science cannot explain. At this point in its natural history, the claims made for love appear weakened but love is still alive and – precisely for this reason – perhaps even more heartfelt.
