Description
Summary:Studying the role of Zeta division in the April war is significant, first of all, because that unit was a rare one to have a task of an offensive towards Albania in order to make retreat of the whole army towards Greece easier. Although military weaker and often without artillery and aviation support, infantry regiments of Zeta division succeeded in suppressing Italian forces and repelling their counter attacks. However, success in Northern Albania did not change the fate of the whole army which capitulated after 11 days of fighting. After their initial success and the breakthrough towards Skadar, the units of this division were withdrawn due to the fast German advancing at the other fronts.
