description BackgroundX-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) has a wide range of applications in materials science, biology, chemistry and other fields.PurposeThis study aims to improve the efficiency of transmission acquisition of synchrotron X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (XAFS) at the BL14W1 beamline station of Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF).MethodsA transmission XAFS data acquisition (DAQ) system based on distributed data acquisition nodes and XAFS test multi-sample racks was built. An integrated design and open the underlying system were applied to the distributed data acquisition nodes for direct acquisition of voltage signals and encoder signals with advantages of small size, low noise, low cost, and easy maintenance. Twelve sample holes were provided by the XAFS test multi-sample holder which could be remotely controlled to switch the hole positions. A new data acquisition system was built by combining the two hardware devices to provide functionalities such as automatic screening and spectrum collection of multiple samples. Both the new data acquisition system and the automatic screening spectrum acquisition program were written in LabVIEW.ResultsThe new data acquisition system realizes the high signal-to-noise ratio automatic screening and automatic acquisition of multi-sample XAFS, which greatly improves the efficiency of data acquisition.ConclusionsThe upgrade of the DAQ system for SSRF BL14W1 beamline greatly improve the spectrum collection efficiency, reduce the cost, reduce the maintenance difficulty, and reduce the occupied space for the operation of the line station.
