Description
Summary:Technological advancement encourages people to adapt, this is also the case in the business sector including those State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). One form of adaptation by the Ministry of SOEs to technology is through the addition of a new set of Key Performance Index (KPI) which mainly promotes leadership in technology. In addition to focusing on technology development, the Ministry of SOEs also has set a target to increase gender equality in the workplace. With the existence of these two targets, this paper seeks to examine gender diversity in 7 SOEs clusters deemed as digital and technology savvy companies. In particular, we are interested in answering the question: how do women fare as leaders in Indonesian digital and technology savvy SOEs? The findings suggest that women’s representation in the Financial Services cluster has outperformed other clusters in terms of gender diversity as the proportion of female president director, commissioner and president commissioner is higher than any other clusters. This paper contributes to the conversation on women’s representation in SOEs, particularly in companies known with its commitment with digital and technology adaptation.
