Summary: | The most recent literature on the politics of equality has paid great attention to the inclusion of intersectionality in public policies, particularly since the EU has invested in introducing a new agenda for multiple inequalities. Following other studies which cover the reactions of different Member States to this new European political priority, this article analyses the case of Portugal. Using the typology presented by Hancock (2007), it argues that the country has initiated the transition to a multiple perspective based on the approval of new plans and organisations in which inequalities are not always treated independently. Parallel to this, it considers the specific features of the Portuguese experience, such as investment in participatory councils and the development of a differentiated institutional model. |
