| description | Se han planteado variadas hipótesis sobre relaciones taxonómicas entre las especies de Merluccius, proponiéndose la existencia de dos subespecies Merluccuis gayi gayi y Merluccius gayi peruanus en el Pacífico Sureste; aunque hasta el momento no existen evidencias suficientes que respalden tal hipótesis. En el presente trabajo se analizan las diferencias genéticas entre ambas subespecies mediante electroforesis de proteínas. Se procesaron 25 individuos de M. gayi gayi de la zona de Talcahuano (Chile) y 25 individuos de M. gayi peruanus del Puerto de Paita (Perú). Se detectó el producto génico de 33 loci homólogos. Los taxa presentan movilidad diferencial de los alelos en los loci monomórficos EM-2*, AP-1* y CA-1* y en el locus polimórfico EST-3*. Merluccius gayi gayi resultó ser el taxón con mayor variabilidad, con un polimorfismo de 24% y una media de heterocigosidad esperada de 0,072. Merluccius gayi peruanus presentó un polimorfismo de 18% y una media de heterocigosidad esperada de 0,037. La identidad genética entre los taxa fue 0,873, de donde se estima un tiempo de separación que va entre 900.000 y 2.000.000 de años (Pleistoceno). En conjunto con la información paleogeográfica, se postulan relaciones biogeográficas históricas<br>There are several hypotheses about the taxonomic relationships among the Merluccius species. These hypotheses have proposed the occurrence of two subspecies in the South-eastern Pacific (Merluccius gayi gayi and Merluccius gayi peruanus), however there are not sufficient evidences that support such hypotheses. In this work the genetic differences between the subspecies is analyzed using protein electrophoresis. Twenty-five individual of M. gayi gayi from Talcahuano (Chile) and the same number of M. gayi peruanus from the Port of Paita (Peru) were analyzed. It was detected the genic product of 33 loci homologous. The taxa showed a differential mobility in the monomorphic loci EM-2*, AP-1* and AC-1* and the polymorphic locus EST-3*. Merluccius gayi gayi exhibited a greater variability when compared to M. g. peruanus (24% of polymorphism and 0.075 mean heterozygosity waited for M. g. gayi and 18% of polymorphism and 0.042 mean heterozygosity waited for M. g. peruanus). The genetic identity among the taxa was 0.873, with an estimated separation time between 900,000 to 2,000,000 years (Pleistocene).
