description The incidence of bed sores in patients in the developed countries is about the same and amounts to 16% of the complications of other diseases (US and UK). At the same time, according to the results of a specialized US study (Brandeis G.H., Morris J.N., 1990), if the caregivers were specially trained nurses and attendants, the prevalence of bed sores was reduced by 2-3 times. Mortality in patients with decubitus ulcers, according to different authors, varies widely (21-88,1%). Such patients died of wound sepsis.
