Summary: | This article analyzes the impact of child labor on the school life of migrant indigenous boys and girls in La Merced, in Mexico City. Ethnographic study based on 44 interviews recorded between September 2014 and April 2015. The oralities of boys and girls regarding their child labor suggest learning to survive on public roads, but the school institution reinforces stigmas that favor the school dropout of this population. Lack of cleanliness and homework produce stereotypes about laziness and ethnicity that justify academic rejection of these childhoods. |
