Summary: | Mobilizing a political ecology approach, this article calls for replacing the conventional concept of water security by the hydro-social security’ones to meet the main contemporary water issues. It aims at working for a democratization of hydro-social cycle to strengthen the building of territorialized sustainable development trajectories. From this perspective, the policy implementation of the management of scientific and societal uncertainties of ecosystem services is an essential methodological prerequisite to achieve, through a negotiation process based on democratic monetary valuation, an institutionalized and “securising” compromise between stakeholders.
