demonstrate how the acts of foundations of new villages demonstrating not only the absolute royal
power, but also all the principles, values and institutions that sought to legitimize and ensure
dominium playback on a Portuguese territory inserted under the Old Colonial System. Performing
while a reinvented tradition, these rites of institution adapted to an audience primarily indigenous,
embodying the purpose of demarcating a boundary between an area supposedly savage and civilized
another hypothetically. |
