description Research objectives: To familiarize the domestic and international academic readership with the chronicle of Seyyid-Muhammed Riza by systematizing and providing basic information about this work (essence, contents, structure, style), preparing the foundation for a wide range of studies, the updating of some issues, and the introduction of research results into modern Oriental studies. Research materials: The text of the chronicle “Es-sebu’s-seyyar fi ahkhbar-i mulyuk-i Tatar” (“Seven Planets in the News on the Tsars of Tatars”, 1737) transliterated from the Arabic in the original language according to the Kazan edition of Kazembek, as well as the publications by Orientalists of different times which contain information regarding the “Seven Planets”. Results and novelty of the research: The author transliterated the work of Seyid-Muhammed Riza for the first time ever; translated individual fragments of the chronicle; systematized information on the “Seven Planets” contained in the scholarly literature; identified the genre specifics of the chronicle and the sources on which it was based; and described the content of the chronicle and its structural components.
