description Water, which has a vital value for all human being, and rain that is the source of water has been naturally blessed in our culture, the absence of water and rain has made the society worried. This worry caused society to question in themselves, investigate and find ways of generating solutions by themselves. As a result of these searches, solutions generated by the society has become the culture by being approved in time, transferred from generation to generation, and formed the important milestones of our culture. It cannot be expected the children, who are members and future of society, to be away from the life style, beliefs, emotions, shortly the folk culture they see from adults. As a natural result of this situation, children are the members who keep the culture alive by living the culture and carry it into the future. Although Çelüm çelüm çemcecük or çemçegelin represents a belief by its occurrence, children have adopted it and changed it into game and played an important role in its spread and keeping it alive. This belief and game, though has a place in different provinces in different shapes as in all folk culture values, is one of the values that comes to our minds and that is about to disappear when Muş culture is mentioned. The game which is played with chants and Turkish poems is both a tool of fun for kids and a folk pray to bring the rain. Çelüm çelüm çemcecük or çemçegelin is played with a wooden ladle or gathered wooden pieces shaped like sticks by covering it with white fabric like a bride. Children, going from door to door, while singing Turkish poems for bringing rain, they want something for themselves from the owners of the houses. Landlord pour water on this wooden-made toy that is taken from door to door with a wish for a rain, and give some food especially candy to the children. In this study, the tradition and the children game of çelüm çelüm çemcecük or çemçegelin which is played in different regions in different ways and mostly associated with Muş is studied in detail with its historical background and the chants, Turkish poems, and beliefs it includes; it is aimed to carry this traditional game which is about to disappear to future.
