description | Introduction: The increasing proportion of elderly in the population present challenges for Norwegian health- and social education institutions – both in terms of capacity and quality these educational services must be strengthened to meet older people’s need for treatment, rehabilitation and residential care. The purpose of this article is to draw attention to how topics associated with ageing and health are presented in documents relevant to four fulltime bachelor’s degree programs in physiotherapy.
Main section: The article is based on a review of the framework plan for the bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy, four bachelor’s degree programs and these programs’ local courses. Direct and indirect references to aging and health related aspects in these documents were registered. In registered learning outcome descriptors at all levels a lifespan perspective is visible. This article discusses the findings of the survey with particular emphasis on the concept of «lifespan» in learning outcome descriptors. Summing up: Themes related to aging and health is under-communicated in broad learning outcome descriptors. A better clarification of how age groups, such as the elderly, are weighted in when a lifecycle perspective is used in learning outcomes descriptions, especially at a course level, is encouraged. |
