Summary: | Is the psychodynamics of work a relevant theoretical reference for analyzing the work of the top manager and the effects of this work on their subjectivity? The aim of the present study is to reflect about this question as well as a about the results of a research focused on a clinical analysis of the top manager´s "self-presentation", considered one of the main aspects of the top manager´s work. After an introduction that presents the implications of a research carried out on 15 top managers in France, the approach adopted and a summary of the key results, the discussion will bring to light the theoretical and methodological changes necessary to investigate the field of top management, a field that until now has been frequently under cultivated by the field of work sciences.
