Summary:Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shun (TIPS) is an effective procedure for the treatment of portal hypertension complications such as esophagogastric variceal bleeding and refractory ascites. To date, its use by many experts and scholars at home and abroad has benefitted countless patients. In order to further promote the development and innovation of TIPS in China, this paper briefly reviews the development process of TIPS at home and abroad, objectively analyzes the bottlenecks and breakthrough achievements in the development of TIPS, and discusses the application status and research progress of TIPS technology for different indications. Finally, we provide an outlook about the development and application of TIPS in China.
