Description
Summary:Antônio Madureira is a Brazilian composer and guitarist. Although he has musical works of the most diverse styles, his name is often associated with the Armorial Movement. This was a movement led by Ariano Suassuna. The aim of the Armorial Movement was to create an authentically Brazilian classical art, based on the popular cultures of the Northeast of Brazil. In music, the most significant group of the Armorial Movement was the Quinteto Armorial, which was born from the meeting between Ariano Suassuna and Antônio Madureira. Because of the importance of Antônio Madureira for armorial music, in 2017 I interviewed him, for a research on the armorial influences in the music of Pernambuco. In this text, we present this interview, to register it and also so that other researchers can use it.
