description | It’s been said that the future of a village resides in its children, and not only because they’re the future, but because it’s better if we protect and teach our children well. Thus, in 1959 the United Nations published ten principles in the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. The second principle of the Declaration of the Rights states that “the child shall enjoy special protection…to enable him to develop physically, mentally, morally, spiritually and socially…” Today, a very different social context from that of 1959, the right to protection should also be settled within the diverse areas that define new communication technologies. However, current procedures established by the PEGI, while still necessary, don’t guarantee this basic childhood right. |
