Summary:According to modern guidelines, statins are an integral part of treatment of acute coronary heart disease. Cardioprotective effects of atorvastatin in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) are multifaceted and maximally manifested in high doses. The purpose of this review is to analyze international medical literature on the use of high doses of atorvastatin in patients with ACS. The results of the analysis demonstrate significant reduction in post-infarction cardiovascular events, a positive impact on the key pathophysiological processes in ACS.
