description This paper describes the outcomes of a residency in which three participants combined their practices within three disparate areas of sonic art. During the residency, a fourth “performer” was added to represent the host building in the form of its wireless internet data and a framework was developed to facilitate this metaphor whilst integrating distinct aesthetic considerations. This culminated in a series of live performances entitled Amalgam, which is described in the context of both collaboration and cooperation. Discourse surrounding network affordance, authorship and the use of non-musical data is also explored.
