description Objective: to study the effect of melatonin and gas transmitters on the development of oxidative damage induced by triple injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Material and methods. Simulation of oxidative stress was carried out by administering LPS for three days at a dose of 5 mg/kg, and its correction was performed using melatonin, L-arginine and sodium hydrosulfide with subsequent determination of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant potential in the tissues of the heart, liver, kidneys and the lungs. Results. Injection of melatonin, L-arginine or donor of hydrogen sulfide (NaHS) 12 hours after the last injection of LPS, lead to a decrease in lipid peroxidation activity (diene and triene conjugates, malonic dialdehyde) and increase in the activity of the antioxidant defense system (catalase, reduced glutathione, α-tocopherol, retinol). Conclusions. Melatonin reduces the activity of free radical processes and increases the level of antioxidant potential in the studied tissues, while L-arginine and NaHS do not enhance this effect of melatonin.
