Description
Summary:Every year, there are flood records of different dimension occurring in Angra dos Reis municipality, RJ. This work analyses rain data of several precipitation stations in that region and the discharge of the city main river (Mambuca river), in order to understand the conditions which cause these floods episodes. It was verified that the precipitation characteristics (quantity, raining period, frequency) that raise Mambucaba river discharge up to 50m3/s, resulting in the inundation of some sites or flooding with great dimensions. The conjugation of floods records from Defesa Civil Municipal de Angra dos Reis with daily data of discharge and precipitation allowed observe that the high tide also contribute with floods formation, even if the Mambucaba river discharge has not reached 50m3/s.
