Description
Summary:In this paper it is proposed that doing summaries of academic texts is valuable to undergraduates EFL learners for several reasons. If the informational content of a written composition k mutually known to writer and reader, feedback on recurring errors in the work of weaker writers can be given more effectively. It is also of value in introducing EFL undergraduates to the language of the academic discourse community. Furthermore, it serves to give learners a clearer idea of what kind of originality is required of them in their written compositions.
