Summary:In the courses given by Merleau-Ponty at Collège de France between 1953 and 1954 he examines non-intentional states of the life of the subject: sleep, dream, memory keep the intersubjective world through symbolic elaboration of our experience. These researches - influenced by Cassirer and his analysis about the notion of “perception of expression” - underlie the new ontology of the «flesh»: the act of seeing and the act of speaking realize them-selves starting from passivity of being seen and being listened.
