description The so-called ‘Ticao Stones’ that were announced to the public last 2011 were the first stone inscriptions in the baybayin script to have been discovered in the Philippines. This article is a report of the transcription of the inscription which was collectively produced by the interdisciplinary University of the Philippines (U.P.) Ticao, Masbate Anthropological Project Team. This report includes a systematic analysis of the inscriptions and some suggestions towards a possible reading of the inscriptions. Some issues relevant to the problem of the authenticity of the stones also raised.
