| description | Las universidades constituyen la columna vertebral del subsistema científico-tecnológico de cada país, y por eso, les corresponde estimular el espíritu creativo, así como la formación científica de los profesionales. Se presentan los resultados de una investigación realizada con el objetivo reflexionar en torno al papel de la investigación científica en la universidad médica y el aporte de soluciones concretas a los problemas de salud con un impacto social. Se realizó la revisión documental del plan de estudio de la carrera de medicina, y se tuvo en cuenta la opinión de expertos. Constituye una necesidad elevar la calidad de la preparación para la investigación de los graduados de las ciencias de la salud, en especial, de los médicos que egresan con la responsabilidad de asumir el trabajo en la Atención Primaria de Salud, donde realizan importantes investigaciones que contribuyan a elevar la calidad de las acciones de prevención y promoción de salud y la atención médica en esta instancia. La universidad médica debe contribuir a una sociedad inteligente del conocimiento a través del aseguramiento de altos niveles de calidad y seguridad de la vida de la población, y para ello, es primordial convencerse de la importancia de generar un cambio en las creencias y hábitos frente a la investigación, es decir, desarrollar una cultura de la investigación en las instituciones educativas y en especial en las educación superior.<br>The universities constitute the cornerstone of scientific-technological subsystem in every country, which have the duty of encouraging the creativity, as well as scientific training of professionals. The results of a research carried out with the objective of reflecting on the role of scientific research in medical universities and the contribution to concrete solutions to health problems having a social impact are shown. A documentary review of the syllabus for medical studies was conducted considering the opinion of experts. It constitutes a need to increase the quality of training for medical science graduates to research, specially, medical graduates with the responsibility of assuming the work in Primary Health Care, where important research activities are organized, direct to increase the quality of actions regarding health prevention/promotion and medical care. The university must contribute to an intelligent society of knowledge through the achievement of high levels in quality and life security to the population, to achieve it, it is essential to be convinced of the importance of generating a change in belief and habits of research works, thus, to develop a culture of research work in educational institutions and specially in higher medical education. |
