Description
Summary:During this study, which was carried out from April 1994 to March 1995, 1640 units of kilka were examined in order to determine, whether they were infected by zoonotic parasites. The obtained parasites were comprised of Contracaecum sp. larva, Anisakis sp. larva and immature Corynosoma strumosum. None of the specimens, belonging to three different species, were mature and therefore could easily continue their life cycle in the human body if ingested with the infected fish. The incidence and intensity of the infection caused by these parasites were also studied and issues related to human health are also discussed in this paper.
