Description
Summary:The aim of this paper is to propose solutions that could ameliorate the housing delivery obstacles frequently confronting the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. The study, which is exploratory in nature and adopted an interpretive research philosophy, used informed knowledge and the qualitative method to validate housing delivery challenges in South Africa that could be linked to some housing challenges in other parts of Africa. This was done using two analytical tools - input and output mechanisms that have made delivery of housing in EMM a difficult task. The study contends that a combination of land unavailability, stringent government policies, heightened by escalating population growth, political vs. administration interference, and poor economic viability have resulted in the epileptic delivery of housing in the EMM.
