description This research has been conducted to investigate the content of stories that preschool children has told with unstructured materials. A case study has been used to examine the contents of the stories the children told. A group of 18 children aged between 36-66 months have participated in the research. "Surprise Box" is used as a data collection tool in which various unstructured materials are stored. The data has been collected by interviewing technique. It has been observed that 11 of the 18 children who participated in the research could not finish the story and construct a story arc. It has been determined that there is a relationship between age and story complexity in the narrated stories. Despite using the same surprise box contents, the children have told the stories associated with their own genders, creating a story around a different theme.
