| description | Trafficking in women for sexual purposes is one of the most dangerous patterns of the crime of human trafficking in view of the blatant abuse of the body, dignity, honor and psyche of women victims. At the same time, it is one of the most illicit activities that generate huge profits on the criminal networks that administer and organize it internationally. More seriously, planning and implementation of such a crime has become automatic within the digital web, which makes it difficult for states to fight and respond to it.
However, this does not prevent us from saying that the international efforts to confront the repercussions of this crime resulted in many international instruments and covenants, including: the International Convention on the Criminalization of Trafficking in Women and Children of 1921, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women 1979, the United Nations Convention against Transnational Crime 2000 ... etc. On the national level, Algeria has worked in a parallel manner to these international instruments to protect women from crimes in general and from being trafficked for prostitution in particular. |
