description A novel coordination polymer, [Pb(L)(1,3-bdc)]·2H2O (1), (L = 2-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline, 1,3-H2bdc = 1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid) has been successfully prepared under hydrothermal conditions. The structure of 1 is a 1D chain structure, which further stacks together to form a 3D supramolecular architecture by π–π interactions and C–H⋯π interactions. In addition, the thermogravimetric analysis of 1 has been investigated.
