Description
Summary:The monetarisation of the Breton economy can be dated to the inter-war period, if that makes sense. However, this transformation took place over decades and it is only recently - less than twenty years ago, no doubt - that we can consider that the monetarisation of the Breton economy is, if not absolute, at least dominant in the sense that monetary relations have supplanted the old barter relations that existed in Brittany until the first half of the twentieth century. The aim of this paper is to propose a theoretical framework that allows us to understand this progressive monetarisation of the Breton economy. More precisely, we propose to build an indicator of the process of diffusion of money in exchanges.
