description 6 voices in 10 minutes:  Update on chronic complications Peripheral neuropathy It is the most prevalent complication of diabetes. In T2D, it starts before diagnosis, it is asymptomatic in the 50% of the cases, and it can affect the different parts of the nervous system with different intensity and distribution. Glycemic control prevents or delays the progression of the distal symmetric polyneuropathy (DSP), which is less evident in T2D than in T1D1. The multifactorial intervention, with a joint objective of glycemic control and the factors of cardiovascular risk, prevents the cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN) in T2D. Modifications to life style have shown to be useful for patients with prediabetes or metabolic syndrome.
