Description
Summary:Bad condition in Osman's Empire at the end of the first and at the beginning of the second decade of the 20th century had led to a series of events which became a serious threat to its survival. Youth Turkish revolution should have led to reforms, and prevented further destruction of the empire. Youth Turks were propagating more freedom, and greater rights for all inhabitants of the empire, but implementation of all rights was not possible. Albanian population gave great support to Youth Turkish regime which promptly betrayed their expectations. As the consequence of the mentioned, there was a wave of uprisings and munities which were lasting in the period from 1909 to 1912. Mitrovica's kaymakan, and representatives of Turkish authorities in other Kosovar towns tried unsuccessfully to halt the Albanians which started fighting for their rights. This sequence of events had corresponded to Serbian government which established connections with Albanian leaders trying to use them for its interests. They were conquering with unstoppable speed Kosovar towns one after another, and boroughs, and after conquering Mitrovica, where they were not given resistance, they managed to reach even Skopje. Authorities were not able to stop the spread of the uprising, so that they agreed to write elections for Turkish parliament. These elections represented a crucial moment for Mitrovica's Serbs as well, whom were trying to make a correct decision, and to join the right part in the electoral list.
