The study presented here aims to improve the performance of public institutions by studying and analyzing the leadership style of leaders because le-adership has a major role when it comes to organiza-tional performance. This research was based on the theory of transformational leadership. Basically, lea-dership styles were analyzed by MLQ questionnaire and the three types of behaviors analyzed through it, namely the transformational, transactional and passive behavior. The leadership style in 167 public institutions from all counties of Romania was studied. This study revealed that we cannot say that there is a predominant type of leadership in public institutions in Romania, but rather a mix of the three behaviors with a slight pre-valence of the transformational and transactional, and also it should be mentioned that organizational perfor-mance can be improved through leadership because subordinates believe that the current leaders helped develop the organization and increase their effciency. |
