Summary: | Landfills rank third among the anthropogenic sources of methane gas in the atmosphere, which makes them important for figuring out the global methane budget. This study poses significant value in finding out the emission of methane from two landfill sites in Dhaka city using different prediction models along with in-situ measurement. This study screened out a suitable estimation method out of six well-known methane prediction models. Direct measurement (In-situ) method of methane (methane: 19.02 Gg/year) and Land-GEM-V-3.02 (SP1) model (methane: 25.95 Gg/year) showed very close estimation. Thus, SP1 model can be suitable for methane prediction from landfills in Bangladesh. |
