Description
Summary:This study deals with the possibilities of translating permanent epithets into a related Slavic language (from Serbian into Russian) on the material of Njegošʼs poem Stephen the Little and the Russian translation of V. Kornilov. Permanent epithets are characteristic of Serbian folk literature from where Njegoš primarily takes them over in Stephen the Little. Certain epithets represented in the poem are in the process of phraseologising while the translation into Russian testifies that the most frequent permanent epithet is in белый свет (the world) in cases when it is a lexeme in the original text.
