Summary:The article considers the practice of implementing provisions of the Federal Act No. 182-FZ "On the Foundations of the Offenses Prevention System in Russian Federation" by district police officers, which are the primary element in law-enforcement preventive work. The research was conducted with using specific sociological methods. Significant shortcomings and loopholes were identified in the organization and content of district police officers’ working that leads to failure of the practical effectiveness of the Federal Act No. 182-FZ, aimed strengthening the social functions of the police and prioritizing crime prevention measures in criminal policy.
