description According to the Treaty of Utrecht, Gibraltar became a British possesion in the year 1713. But until then, Gibraltar had been a Spanish city. And as such Spanish city, he participated in the tremendous love of the Spanish people for the theater in the seventeenth century. In this paper we try to locate the corral de las comedias which was erected in the year 1618 and disappeared after the British occupation in 1704 and to describe this building as far as possible according to the unpublished History of Gibraltar written by Dr. Thomas de Portillo circa 1624. We make a list of the different autores de comedias, companies and actors who performed in this corral de comedias during the seventeenth century.
