Summary:The issue of the development of natural science literacy of students through the system of additional education, in particular, on the basis of a technopark, is considered. Natural science literacy is characterized as a component of students’ functional literacy. The authors made an attempt to formulate the reasons for the low level of natural science literacy of Russian schoolchildren, and proposed a number of priority areas for modernizing the modern education system in this context. The role of the technopark as an innovative educational environment is revealed in terms of motivating students to study the disciplines of the natural sciences, increasing their level of natural science literacy. The experience of organizing the work of a technopark of universal pedagogical competencies on the basis of the Altai State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University named after V.M. Shukshin on the organization of research and project activities of schoolchildren accompanied by university students.
