Summary:    The study aimed to recognition of the relationship between goal orientation types and achievement  at a sample of a child education department students at Tishreen University, beside, exploring the differences between students’ goal orientation types according to gender ,the educational specialization at the secondary stage and according to the progressing in the academic  years. the sample consists of (384) students,(76) males and (308) females, by using the scale of goals orientation types by ( Elliot & Charch, 1997) after verifying of its reliability and validity in local environment, beside achieving scores. the results were as follows: -There was positive relationship between achieving scores and mastery, performance goal orientation types, and there was a negative relationship with avoiding  goal orientation -There were  no  differences at performance orientation goal type depending  on  the variables: the educational specialization  and  the progressing  in academic years, but there were differences according to gender  in favor of females. -There were  no  differences at mastery orientation goal type depending  on  the variables: gender and  progressing in the academic years , but there were differences according to the educational specialization at the secondary stage in favor of literary specialization. -There  were no  differences at avoidance orientation goal  type according to gender, educational specialization, and  progressing in the academic years.
