The article highlights the dynamics of the book movement in camps for the interned Ukrainian soldiers of the Ukrainian People's Republic Army in Poland (1921-1924) and covers the importance of the Ukrainian book for boosting morale among Ukrainian soldiers in the circumstances of camp isolation. The research methodology involves using problem-chronological, historical, and comparative-retrospective research methods; their combination allows to identify distinctive features of the book movement development in camps for the interned Ukrainian soldiers of the Ukrainian People's Republic Army. The scientific novelty is based on defining the contribution of various Ukrainian People's Republic State Center departments in exile in the establishment and development of the book movement in camps; determining the sources for supplying camp libraries and the role of the latter in strengthening the patriotic mindset among internees and their family members. Conclusions. The author proved that the Ukrainian book in camps for interned Ukrainian soldiers greatly influenced camp residents by helping significantly in learning, and also becoming a solace in their difficult camp everyday life. Thanks to the initiatives of the Ukrainian People's Republic Army headquarters, non-governmental, and charity organizations, libraries, where internees could read the news, were founded in every camp. The article shows that then library expenses, particularly periodicals subscriptions, were covered by funds from the Ukrainian People's Republic Army division commanders. The replenishment of library fonds was thanks to the Ukrainian People's Republic Ministry of Education initiatives and donors' efforts. With the establishment of printers and publishing associations in camps, part of the printed materials was transferred to camp and division libraries. The Ukrainian book laid the long-term groundwork for national and statehood mindsets for internees, while remaining the most crucial knowledge source in Ukraine's history, geography, and culture.
