Summary: | The present study emerges from a master dissertation conducted under the supervision of Professor Oscar Belvedere. The work focused on the functional analysis of the rooms of the House I Nord of Islet XII at Himera. Among the artefacts studied for the analysis of the furniture, is a fragmented red figured Attic crater. The excavation allows the study of the final phase of occupation of the site, at the end of the 5th century BC. The discovery in situ of the furniture offers a rare opportunity to formulate a number of hypotheses regarding the function of certain rooms of the House I and the daily life of the latest period of occupation of the city, before its destruction in 409 BC, during the Battle of Himera, which pitted the inhabitants against the Carthaginians. |
