Description
Summary:Investigating sea traffic in The Straits of Istanbul on yearly basis, an increase both in vehicle traffic and in the number of transportation is observed. This situation increases also the risk of accidents in The Straits of Istanbul. The area is confronted with a lot of risks from the point of lives, wealth and health due to sea transportation. These drawbacks emphasize the priority of performing accident analysis. In order to show that accident's density is in its maximum level in recent years, a new term called black points is used to analyze these accidents. Determining the important locations and areas, on one side, makes the process of taking necessary precautions easier, and on the other side, decreases the amount of losses. In this study, using Marine Traffic Engineering approach for canals and port management, with black point analysis methods, an implementation for sea accidents in The Straits of Istanbul will be performed. Based on this implementation, risky areas will also be determined.
