| Summary: | <p>The article provides a review of scientific papers on the history of pre-revolutionary Russian province, published in <em>V Mire Nauchnykh Otkrytiy </em>[In the World of Scientific Discoveries] magazine. The articles on the emerging role and significance of regions in the life of present-day Russia are indicative of the growing interest to local history and reflect the process of accumulation of historic information.</p><p>Focusing attention on the material of local caliber is especially important to understand regional peculiarities of historic development of certain areas of the country. Undoubtedly, magazine articles do not contain comprehensive answers to many questions connected with the Russian history, but serve as the easy means of its comprehension.
